The democracy is threatened by the war against the drugs
Mexico. – Although in recent months the national attention has still been centered in the electoral process in dispute, it remains unalterable, as backdrop in the panorama of violence and death daily associated to the ”war against the crime” that this whole six years has lasted. In these days dozens of people have been murdered, in episodes linked to the organized crime rate, in Michoacan, San Luis Potosi, Mexico State, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, New Leon, Sinaloa, and Jalisco. In Michoacan where the strategy of effective security began in the nation it must receive reinforcements of federal hundreds of police before the uncontrolled and it anxieties in its regions. In second part, on Sunday they were murdered a mayor that had just been elect in passed July and a collaborator of their campaign.

Paradoxically, the problem of security and of the violence, with everything and to be of the most pressing thing that suffers the country, remained in second plane during the political campaigns of the first half of this year and it was not among the high-priority matters in the messages of the candidates in the election. However in the months of campaign and during the litigation present post-electoral, the murders, the kidnappings and the confrontations have not diminished neither it has been possible to revert the enormous might accumulated by the criminal organizations, in spite of the official campaign in theirs against, or perhaps, it can be thanks to their. Besides, in diverse points of the country they multiply the expressions of institutional decomposition generated against the drug traffic.

No matter how much the official strategy against the crime rate has shown its inoperable, and its counteractive character, the institutional world and the political class are not also shown very concerned to formulate an alternative politics and not even to debate the topic. Even, the civil society seems to have lost interest in the solution of a phenomenon that it threatens in a direct way its security and its daily life. The barbarism established in the country should be integral part of the national debate. It is necessary to demand that, be which was the authorities in shift, the task is undertaken of carrying out a critical and integral diagnosis of the government actions as regards security during the six years under way; the cases are clarified in that the authority, instead of making respect the legality, it has forced it, and an integral strategy is formulated.

The democracy threatened by the war of the organized crime
The caravan for the peace with Justice and with Dignity, headed by Javier Sicilia, it arrives today to Los Angeles, second scale in their tour of one month for 27 cities of The States, to present the human face of the costs of the call “war against the drugs” and their consequences in both sides of the frontier. The caravan that will cross almost 10 thousand kilometers for the country, looks for to impel a debate and until a movement binational headed by victims and critical of the politicians of the antidrug war. Supported in this country by Latin organizations, of immigrants, of former officials' public security associations, of veteran of progressive war, of defenders of human rights and of groups that promote the end of the prohibition politicians that they are the official’s politic foundation.

The caravan is a combined project coordinated by the coalition of Sicilia in Mexico and the Global Exchange American organization. Along next month, it will cross the country to conclude in Washington, in September 12, 2012. In The LA they publicities characters of Hollywood in acts programmed there tonight and that they will continue this Tuesday (8/14/12), and they are stars of the national panorama, together with political and social leaders of that city. When arriving to L A today, Sicilia offered a declaration mentioning some lines of Bob Dylan's song “it doesn't still darken", to point out that this fight is to face the darkness of the hundred of thousands of “dead, missing, pursued and imprisoned” that it has left the antidrug war in both countries.

Sicilia called to give an answer binational, as much Mexico as The States: "If they, people of The States, they don't assume the misunderstandings of their governments, as they we assume our responsibilities, and they demand them to change their politics of war against the drugs that generate a strong control of the weapons that they pass illegally Mexico that they attack the laundry of money drastically, and make it doesn't only unite political including and human with the migrants, but a rebuilding of the social fabric as much in Mexico as in Central America and in the American areas destroyed by the misery, the night it will arrive and it will be absolute as in the countries where they settled the crime, the authoritativeness and the militarization. Only we together can save the democracy threatened by the war". It is very difficult to break the political group of pressure in the higher and lower chambers and it the powerful association of the rifle in The States, and their campaign of the fear impelled by the recent and old slaughters. Since these they are publicity to impel the sales of weapons, and it is as well as a vicious cycle that they will never break takes place.

This integral strategy should be composed of the economic strategy, politics, social, and police. For this way to make in front of the marked degradation of the right state, to the disaster of public security, and to the control that the organized crime has achieved in areas of the territory, in public institutions and until in some economic activities. In contrast of what has been sustained some representatives of the current administration should not be allowed that the violence, the insecurity and the ruptures of the legality have a projection along six years, and the country doesn't have to resign to live in a state of permanent war.
